Who We Are
God’s love extends to all. We believe the church should too.
The Gospel calls us to pursue justice, and we recognize that individuals will have different views on how to do this.
Dignity and diversity must coexist.
Our Values
We will remain open to the Spirit of God drawing us to increasingly larger understandings of the range of God’s all-inclusive love.
Our Vision
We will embody hospitality, both in what we do and through our facilities.
A congregation seeking to be faithful will display loving treatment of all of God’s children. In our day, this faithfulness requires welcoming LGBTQIA+ persons and acknowledging a non-binary view of gender.
Through countless generations past, human potential was cut short and life’s richness denied to persons we today would call transgender. Faithful witness today involves acknowledging the full humanity of trans individuals. In 2025 and moving forward, we are called to defend the rights of those individuals.
We will continually grow in understanding of and appreciation for the myriad of cultures and languages that constitute God’s family; we love our own as well as others.
All means all of God’s children. We commit to support those who have been harmed by others because of how God created them.
As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we practice open communion, value thoughtful faith, and participate in the wider life of the church through regional and ecumenical relationships.

Rev. Dottie Cook
Senior Minister
Dottie believes the church is at its best when it embodies radical love, authentic hospitality, and justice in action. She is passionate about creating worship that is meaningful, creative, and rooted in community while helping people discover God's presence in everyday life. Before answering the call to ordained ministry, Dottie taught orchestra and worked in community-based social services. She is active in local interfaith and justice initiatives and is committed to building bridges within the church and throughout the wider community.

Rob Laney
Music Director
Rob has served as Music Director at South Hills since 2000, leading worship through a rich variety of musical styles that invite the congregation into meaningful participation. He directs the Chancel Choir and Guitar Group while encouraging musicians of all ages and backgrounds to share their gifts. Outside of South Hills, Rob teaches music at Weatherford College and remains active in the North Texas choral community.

Mike Branch
Office & Property Coordinator
Mike Branch started at South Hills as Office and Property Coordinator in 2024. Wearing different hats, he keeps the church office running and stocked, while identifying what needs to be repaired on the grounds.

Nursery Attendant
Maria helps create a safe, welcoming, and caring environment for the youngest members of the South Hills family. Her warmth and attentive care allow parents and caregivers to participate in worship with confidence, knowing their children are loved and supported.

Nathaniel Cook
Communications
Nathaniel oversees communications and digital engagement for South Hills, helping tell the church's story through thoughtful design, photography, video, social media, and the website. A professional cellist and communications leader for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest, Nathaniel is passionate about creating welcoming spaces—both online and in person—that reflect the church's commitment to radical love, hospitality, and belonging.
